Predator: Badlands

Predator: Badlands takes the franchise in a completely new direction — this time, the Predator is no longer the unstoppable hunter… but the hunted.

The trailer opens on a brutal wasteland planet known as Genna, a place feared across the galaxy as the “planet of pain.” Storms rage across endless deserts while gigantic skeletal remains cover the surface. A young Predator named Dek walks alone through the wasteland, clearly weaker and smaller than the elite Yautja warriors seen in previous films.

From the beginning, it’s obvious he has been cast out by his own kind.

An elder Predator tells him:

“You are unworthy of the hunt.”

Humiliated and desperate to prove himself, Dek steals a ship and travels into the deadly Badlands searching for the ultimate prey — a creature whispered about in Predator legends.

But almost immediately, the trailer reveals something terrifying:
Dek is no longer the apex predator.

Quick flashes show:

  • enormous alien beasts tearing through Predator armor,
  • abandoned Weyland-Yutani laboratories,
  • mountains of Predator skulls,
  • and entire hunting parties wiped out.

Then the trailer introduces Thia, a mysterious android played by Elle Fanning. Unlike the cold corporate androids from previous films, she seems emotionally unstable and partially damaged. She discovers Dek barely alive after a failed hunt.

At first, they distrust each other.
Predators traditionally despise synthetic beings, while Thia views Yautja as monsters.

But both quickly realize something far worse is hiding on Genna.

In one chilling moment, Thia whispers:

“You’re hunting something that cannot be killed.”

The trailer then explodes into chaos.

Massive underground creatures emerge beneath the sand.
Invisible monsters stalk even the Predators themselves.
Entire canyons collapse during brutal fights.
A gigantic shadow appears briefly through lightning storms — hinting at the true apex creature of the planet.

For the first time in the franchise, the audience sees fear in a Predator’s eyes.

The second half of the trailer focuses on the strange alliance between Dek and Thia:

  • a disgraced hunter seeking redemption,
  • and a synthetic girl abandoned by humanity.

Together they journey deeper into the Badlands, where ancient ruins suggest the planet may have once been connected to both the Predator species and Weyland-Yutani experiments.

The final scenes become increasingly intense:

  • Dek activating damaged Predator weapons,
  • Thia surrounded by hostile android drones,
  • a giant alien creature roaring inside a storm,
  • and Predator ships falling from the sky in flames.

The trailer ends with Dek heavily wounded, standing alone on a cliff as thunder shakes the planet.

A gigantic unseen creature approaches through the dust.

Dek slowly extends his wrist blades.

Then the screen cuts to black.

One final line appears:

“In the Badlands… even predators pray.”

The movie appears to combine:

  • survival horror,
  • science-fiction mythology,
  • Predator tribal lore,
  • and strong connections to the Alien/Weyland-Yutani universe.

Unlike previous Predator movies focused mainly on humans surviving the hunt, Predator: Badlands seems to tell the story from the Predator’s perspective — turning the legendary hunter into an outcast warrior fighting to survive against something even deadlier than himself.
